OUR SECOND TERM WITH ELEANOR AND OUR BILINGUAL STUDENTS , IN SHORT : AMAZINGLY PRODUCTIVE

  During    our  second term at IES Algazul, Eleanor began by sharing with the students of 3B some of the craziest TV shows in the English-speaking world from strange addictions, to first dates gone wrong! .They ,in groups of 4 , also shared with her the Spanish  freakiest  ones. There was a qualification for the activity. We also discussed our favourite pictures, sharing with each other precious memories. During the final weeks of term, she worked with the students in small groups to prepare for their English speaking exam. With the students of 2B, we hit the term off with a presentation about Eleanor's favourite moments of 2022, and had a class-wide discussion of our memories from last year. Then, we worked on a cultural project, in which the students had to select a British city and research it in several parts: sport, music, accent, general facts, and food. Each week, Eleanor demonstrated the task, using her city, Leicester, as an example! And finally, she ended the term with a

                                        ELEANOR IS COMING...........           When Eleanor joined us on 3rd October we began our classes with some presentations to introduce Eleanor to Roquetas and to familiarise her with the place. In groups of four, our students , chose and introduced Eleanor a topic about Roquetas: landscape, leisure time, shopping .....             We shared with Eleanor our frequently-used informal Spanish expressions to help her get to grip with the  local vocabulary and Eleanor in return shared some popular English informal expressions, such as " being chuffed", " a piece of cake" and "come on". It was a group activity with a qualification in order to get an informal atmosphere and get the students confident to speak in English.           To further get to know each other , we shared with the class our favourite personal photos and  discussed their significance to us .                                              PRODUCTIVE  FIRST  TERM            This scholard year, we are very lucky to have full time language assistant. Her name is Eleanor and she is coming from Oxford University.   The fact of sharing more hours with her has created the posibility of fulfilling a more amount of activities.                            Below you can see a summary of the main activities done this first term.

 First level students have made some leaflets informing about  jummy food from Roquetas de Mar. We have learnt some delicious traditional receipts . JOLLY GOOD!!!!!

SOME NICE VIDEOS INTRODUCING OUR LANDSCAPE

     Our students from 3rd level have shot some funny and interesting videos for the Geography subject. They show us the main interesting locations in our city.

MUSIC FOR THE PROMOTIONAL VIDEO

 Students from the 1st level have researched music for our promotional video.Their Music teacher , Luis Fernández , has taught them in two sessions of class,  the history of the music in Almería . They have studied tracks from different genres . Finally, they have chosen some songs that they would like for the video .

1st LEVEL STUDENTS MAKE AMAZING LEAFLETS

 Our 1st level students have made amazing leaflets about traditional dishes in Roquetas de Mar. This task is a contribution to our project and final product  : a promotional video to promote the tourism in our community. This project is integrated in an UDI of our secondary school. The justification for this UDI is as follow:  In the last two years, our society has been affected by a pandemic. It is worth noting the tourist sector that has had its income drastically reduced.Our town, Roquetas de Mar bases its economy mainly on two sectors: agriculture and tourism. Considering this context, the educational community in general and our students in particular must be aware of and commit to the society to which they belong.   WELCOME TO ALMERIA , is  a UDI in which students from different levels prepare tasks with content and objectives of different subjects, to reach a final project
